What We Do

Our vision

We aim to improve the clinical care of individuals with late-onset unexplained epilepsy, by:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of late-onset unexplained epilepsy that includes its causes, risk factors, clinical trajectories, biomarkers, and treatment outcomes
  • Generating robust evidence to guide the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of late-onset unexplained epilepsy
  • Accelerating development of new and effective treatments for late-onset unexplained epilepsy

Our mission

We will carry out large, multi-center research studies focused on late-onset unexplained epilepsy, in order to:

  • Collect data on clinical presentations, pathophysiology, and outcomes
  • Create large, clinically annotated biorepositories of EEG, MRI, biofluid, and neuropsychological data, to facilitate biomarker discovery
  • Develop tools for disease stratification and prognostication
  • Inform future therapeutic development
We believe that large, multi-center and multi-disciplinary collaborations are crucial to rapidly advance our understanding of late-onset unexplained epilepsy and to draw robust conclusions that will directly translate to improvements in clinical care.
